Race Information

Events: 8K Run/walk, 1 Mile Fun-run/walk, 2 Mile Pet Race and a FREE Kids' Race

Race date: Sunday, April 12, 2009

Race will begin at promptly 8:00 am. There will be plenty of parking available in the parking lot of Brandi Fenton Park located at 3482 E. River Road.

There will be food & drinks available at the event. A medical crew will be on standby and many law enforcement vehicles will be on display.

Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the event.

Beneficiary

88-CRIME

The event benefits 88-CRIME Inc. a non-profit 501 (C) 3. 88-Crime is a telephone hotline you can use to report information about any unsolved felony crime. Callers are never asked to give their names, and telephone calls are never recorded or traced. Rewards are available if calls result in the arrest and indictment of a felony suspect. You can play an active role in keeping our streets safe.

Since this program began in 1980, tips to 88-CRIME have been responsible for more than 3,265 felony arrests and more than $65 million in recovered stolen property and seized illegal narcotics. Thanks to the anonymous tips from callers, 88-CRIME has helped take a host of murderers, child molesters, armed robbers, burglars and drug dealers off the streets.

Prizes

Overall winners will receive $100 in cash. Trophies awarded to top three finishers in 5-year age-groups. Master winners and largest team also awarded! Everyone will receive a goodie bag, a long sleeve t-shirt and breakfast.

2 mile Pet Race

Feel free to run with your pet! Your pet has to be on a leash and under constant control at all times. You'll have to run/walk on the dirt path parallel with the race course. It's a non competitive event so please keep an open mind and help us keep the race safe. You'll receive the same benefits as all runners and your pet will get a special treat at the end!

FREE 100 yard dash for children 12 & under

All children participating in the Dash will receive a Ribbon. Kids don't have to register.

Course Description

(click map to enlarge; click here for interactive map) Starting from Brandi Fenton Park you'll run/walk West on the Rillito River Path (North side). At the Country Club bridge you'll cross over to the South side and continue running to Mile 2. At the turn-around you'll head back towards the start. The course includes a 1 mile trail section in the Rio Vista Park. Please follow the course markings and volunteers. Once you leave the park you'll run/walk back to the Country Club bridge, cross over and finish at the Brandi Fenton Memorial Garden.

On the way out (and back) please stay to the right. There is a dirt trail parallel with the paved path, feel free to run on it if you're looking for a softer surface.
